Be Guided by the Expert

Pat Hughes MBE is one of the best-known guides in the Swansea
and West Wales area and Dylan Thomas is her speciality.

She regularly accompanies visiting groups, conference delegates and journalists around the Dylan Thomas Trails in Swansea and Laugharne, and around the beautiful Gower Peninsula, highlighting the tours with
her own unique blend of history, myths and legends, and quotes from Dylan Thomas.

The annual Dylan Thomas Festival takes place there between October 27th and November 9th, but whatever time of year you decide to come, we will do our best to help you organise your visit.

Pat was awarded the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2005
for Services to Tourism in South and West Wales.

Formerly Communications Officer with Swansea City Council, Pat left in 1996 to form her own PR Company, dealing mainly with Tourism in Wales, and to spend more time performing with, & developing, the Merlyn Theatre Company which she created in 1988.

Pat is a professional Actress, former International fencer, avid cricket follower - formerly an executive committee member of Glamorgan County Cricket Club, (she was the one who was not allowed into the Pavilion at Lords in 1990!) and Member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

A regular broadcaster on BBC Wales radio and television, Radio 4 and a contributor to many overseas radio stations, she can often be heard as the 'voice-over' for corporate videos for local hotels and tourist attractions.

Pat is well known in North America having toured there on a number of occasions with the Wales Tourist Board and the British Tourist Authority, supporting their Road Shows and performing at various dinners and receptions throughout the USA and Canada. Her One-Woman Show gives potential visitors, Tour operators, Travel Agents and Travel Press a taste of the culture and humour of Wales.

With wide ranging interests and a wealth of stories, Pat is also an experienced After-Dinner Speaker, and regularly entertains with talks which range from a brief history, myths and legends, about Swansea
and Gower, stories about her life as a 'Woman in Sport', the problems
and joys of bringing up a dyslexic son and a non-academic insight into
the life and work of Dylan Thomas, during his time in South Wales,
which includes readings and performances of extracts from some of his better known works.
